Who is JOAN?

Studio Joans is named after my Mom, Joan.

She has always been my biggest supporter, my sounding board, and the person cheering me on through every chapter of life — even if sometimes she did it quietly from the sidelines.

When I moved to the Collingwood area in 2024 to be closer to family and begin a new chapter, I knew I wasn't leaving entrepreneurship behind forever. Before that, I spent 10 years owning and operating a private studio in Toronto's east end, where I built a business centred around creativity, connection, and personalized service.

Over the past year and a half, while working in the area and putting down roots in this community, I found myself dreaming about what the next chapter might look like.

Studio Joans is that next chapter.

A space that reflects everything I've learned over the last 20 years behind the chair, while honouring the people who helped me get here — especially my Mom.

It feels only fitting that her name would be on the door.

Need to Get Some Work Done? Bring it with you, JOAN would!

Bring your laptop and work from the studio while your colour processes. I've got a laptop table ready, Wi-Fi, and enough coffee to keep the emails flowing.

Once you've wrapped up your work and I've wrapped up your hair (wink!) we'll head to the sinks where Chewy will almost certainly join us for the most luxurious shampoo experience possible. And yes, scalp massages are non-negotiable.
